This technical writing and oral presentation course teaches students how to use grammatically correct English and essential writing and speaking skills to produce a variety of technical documents, oral interviews, and presentations that use appropriate and effective field-specific vocabulary in the field of Computer Science. Students identify common errors in spoken and written communication among Central Asian EFL students and focus on the principles, practices, and conventions of writing technical documents such as memos, formal correspondence, instructions, descriptions, definitions, explanations, and a problem-solution paper. Students learn how to tailor their writing to meet the needs of their audience, and how to use diagrams, tables, and charts to create informative content. They make complex information accessible for users and other audiences through writing and learn how to understand and improve non-verbal communication and kinesthetics through oral presentation and interviews.
