Academic English is a required language skills course with a special focus on English for academic settings. The level of the course is high intermediate (CEFR Level B1 - B2). The purpose of the course is to prepare students with the language skills necessary for Core courses offered in the English language. The language requirement for this course is IELTS 6 or B1 on placement test. The course focuses on listening and speaking skills with supplement activities on reading and writing summarizations that address the departmental specialization. This is the second semester of a two course series and builds on the skills developed in the Academic English 1.

Students may be given supplemental reading material for homework and writing assignments
