ACENS202 (Preparatory English 2) is a required language skills course with a special focus on English for academic settings. The level of the course is high elementary (CEFR Level A2). The purpose of the course is to prepare students with the language skills necessary for Core courses offered in the English language. It is required for students scoring lower than a IELTS 6 or B1 on the placement test.

Learner Outcomes:Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Employ study skills for strengthened understanding and retention, including how to take notes in English, developing a vocabulary notebook, etc.
Cope with most of the situations that might arise in a classroom where the English language is used.
Discuss the main points of clear texts in standard language on familiar topics.
Describe experiences, events, wishes and aspirations, as well as briefly justifying opinions or explaining plans.
Extract key information from a variety of appropriate academic-related audio and video materials.
Demonstrate the ability to write different sentence types with proper syntax, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Write an original paragraph with a topic sentence and supporting and concluding sentences.
